Sacramento is in the process of taking a critical look at the way our system is serving youth experiencing homelessness. We want to paint a real picture of what the system looks like, where the gaps are, and what we can do to change things. The authentic story of youth homelessness can only be told with youth sitting at the same table as other stakeholders every step of the way.
We are creating a small cohort of youth and young adults who are interested in meeting regularly to discuss system challenges, attending closed meetings with service providers, policy makers, and youth advocates, while also engaging in Think Tank style meetings to dream up solutions to the hard realities that Sacramento is facing. Members do not have to attend every meeting or engage in every conversation. They do not need any special skill or qualification. They do not need a car or a suit and tie. All we need is young people who are willing and excited about engaging in discussions about youth homelessness and what we, as a community, can do to change things. YOUTH ACTION BOARD SUPPORT
There are many barriers that keep youth from being able to attend community meetings and conversations. We will need volunteers to ensure that youth have their basic needs met so that they are able to participate to the fullest extent in the Youth Action Board. Support is needed in providing transportation, attendance incentives, meals, and more. Please sign up below if you would like to be added to the Youth Action Board Support Team.
